As the workhorse of industrial heating, flange heating elements are often damaged after a short period of use, impacting production and increasing costs. However, with proper daily maintenance and proper use, you can significantly extend their lifespan. Today, we'll share a few practical, easy-to-follow tips that you'll never miss!

1. Strictly avoid dry heating-this is the bottom line for lifespan protection.

The most important thing to avoid with flange heating elements is dry heating! During operation, ensure that the heating element is completely immersed in the medium (such as water, oil, or a solvent). Never expose the element to air. Dry heating can cause the element to heat up instantly, easily burning the internal heating wire and even causing deformation and cracking of the outer shell. A single severe dry heating event can render the element useless.

Before use, always check the liquid level to ensure that the medium is covering the element before applying power. Don't skimp on this step!

2. Regularly descale to ensure unimpeded heat flow

Whether used for water circulation or other liquid heating, scale, oil, and other impurities will inevitably form on the surface of the tube after long-term use. This dirt acts as an insulation layer, hindering heat transfer, leading to poor heat dissipation and overheating, indirectly shortening the tube's lifespan.

Regular descaling is recommended based on frequency of use:

- Scale can be rinsed with a citric acid solution or gently wiped with a soft cloth;

- Oil and other impurities can be cleaned with a neutral detergent after cooling. Avoid scratching with hard tools to avoid damaging the tube surface.

3. Avoid frequent power cycles to reduce component wear and tear

Frequent power cycling exposes the heater to sudden changes in temperature. This can cause fatigue damage to the internal heating wire and terminals due to thermal expansion and contraction, and can reduce component stability over time.

Maintain a stable power supply during operation. If temperature adjustment is necessary, adjust slowly within the permitted range. Avoid frequent power cycling unless necessary to ensure the heater operates in a stable temperature environment, which can effectively reduce wear and tear.

4. Wiring and Installation: Details Determine Lifespan

Many heater failures are not caused by inherent quality issues, but rather by improper wiring or installation.

- During wiring, ensure that the terminals are securely connected to avoid looseness or poor contact. Otherwise, sparks and overheating at the connection point can easily occur, potentially burning the terminals or the heater.

- During installation, ensure that the connection between the heater and the flange is securely fixed to prevent vibration from loosening and leaking. Also, ensure sufficient heat dissipation space to prevent localized overheating.

5. Stay within rated parameters and avoid overloading.

Each flanged heater has a rated power, rated temperature, and applicable media range. Never exceed these limits in pursuit of heating speed. For example, forcing a 300°C heater to operate at 400°C, or forcing high power operation in a medium with excessive viscosity, will accelerate the aging of internal components and shorten their lifespan.

Strictly following the specifications in the product manual may seem "conservative," but it is actually the most reliable way to extend the lifespan.
